About Me
I started working in Theater at a young age alongside my father, who volunteered with the local school and community theaters in my home town of St. Michaels, Maryland. Along with performing in many musical productions, I also worked as a scenic carpenter, scenic/lighting designer/operator, and audio engineer throughout middle and high school on both volunteer and paid gigs. In high school, I started working in film as well, and in 2011, went to Salisbury University and received my BA in Communications-Media Production, in which my studies focused heavily in film and audio production, both in studio and in the field. While at SU, I quickly fell in love with the technical theater side of things, and took as many classes in theater production as I could after realizing it could be a potential career for me.
After graduating from Salisbury University in 2015, I worked for Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE as a Theater Technician/Technical Director. I was responsible for managing the theater, as well as building/designing sets for the schools theater program, running/designing lights and sound for all events, and coordinating outside events, which included Jazz Festivals, Film Festivals, Dance Recitals, Concerts and Musicals.
In 2017 I left my position at Cape Henlopen to pursue a Masters Degree in Technical Direction at the Californica Institute of the Arts, after receiving a full tuition- Walt Disney Scholarship. During my studies, I served in various production roles, as the Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director, Scenic Carpenter, CNC Operator/Programmer and Draftsman/Technical Designer. Throughout my classes I gained valuable knowledge in budgeting, scenic fabrication, welding, electronics, CAD programs, art direction and project management, and gained valuable experience managing large teams of 20+.
During the summer of 2019, between my 2nd and 3rd year at CalArts, I worked as the Special Effects Supervisor for Universal Studios Hollywood- Halloween Horror Nights. Throughout the project, I was responsible for the technical design of special effects that were to be implemented in all 8 mazes, including IP’s such as Ghostbusters, Stranger Things, House of 1000 Corpses, and more. I worked with various outside vendors and our in house props team to build and integrate the effects into the scenic elements of the mazes, and managed union staff on site during the install of all effects.
After graduating from CalArts in 2020, I moved back to Maryland due to the pandemic and global shut down of the entertainment industry. I was fortunate to have work as a professional musician until I started full time as the Executive Director of the Todd Performing Arts Center at Chesapeake College, where I worked until 2023 and then transitioned to the Naval Academy, where I am currently employed as a Technical Theater Specialist.
